You, the Consumer

Mon May 11, 2009, 9:01 AM
After taking my introductory course to game development, I've become more aware of target audiences and marketing (making certain games for certain groups).

So, I've decided to ask all of you, as consumers, what do you like in a video game? What would you like to see more of? What types of games do you play, and why? What are some of your favourite games?

Your replies are much appreciated. ^_^

What do you want to do?

Wed Apr 15, 2009, 8:16 AM
Do you remember when they would ask you in school what you wanted to be when you grew up? And, being the wide-eyed, innocent, naive child you were, replied with some grandiose career choice (or not so grandiose, depending), believing that you could honestly one day achieve that goal?

Over time, people become weathered and jaded, and they realise that they don't want to work for what they want, and they'd rather become complacent with their everyday, mediocre lifestyle. People settle for what they have; they don't reach for what they want. And then they grow bitter and angry, place blame and make excuses for the choices they made, and talk about the way things were, or the way things should have been.

It's almost as if people don't know that it's Okay to be happy.

I know too many like that.

And I don't want to live that way.

I want to have fun with my life and not regret the past. I want to live my life without proving anything to anyone but myself. I don't have to be famous or rich to make something out of myself. I just want to be happy doing what I do.

And I want to make video games, dammit! ^___^

Online Portfolio

Mon Jan 5, 2009, 11:59 AM
I've been playing around and teaching myself how to use Dreamweaver to create web pages, and I've been attempting to make an online portfolio for school and such; something a little more professional than my DA gallery.

So, my question to all of you is...how do I go about doing that?

I don't really know anything about hosting sites...other than the stuff like geocities and things of that nature.

Can anyone give me any advice, or point me in the right direction? I'd greatly appreciate it! ^_^

Aang Ain't White

Mon Dec 22, 2008, 9:38 AM
As a huge fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, I am one of many who is responding negatively to the all-white casting choices made by Paramount Pictures and M. Night Shyamalan for the upcoming live-action film.

Please visit the "Aang Ain't White" livejournal site [link] to find out what you can do about this whitewashing of the beautifully diverse world of Avatar, and help stop the subtle racism that's been created by the lack of minority actors.

I'm mailing my letter tomorrow.
