So, it's been well over a year since I've last updated my journal. Have an update!
My dear sister and I have two conventions under our belt and have already been accepted to two next year. We've been fairly busy with commissions, making our visual novel (
www.tumblr.com/blog/unhingedtw…), and creating a new webcomic. (
honeyedpancake.tumblr.com/)
I myself have been drawing some new things, including the personifications of seasons, as seen by my recent upload of "Spring."
But I've been feeling oddly nostalgic. I think I'm going to do some fun things with older-style anime drawings...something 80's or 90's looking. Maybe I'll revive the "Swim Fruits" series that I had been working on a long time ago and make them look like classic anime girls. I really like switching my style up from time to time.
As far as conventions go, though, we've got new elemental girls we're working on for Ohayocon. Last year's theme was magic girls, so we created characters
like this to fit that theme. For 2015, the theme is MMOs, so we're redrawing the girls to be traditional RPG characters, like archers, warriors, and the like. It's pretty cool for us, since this is full-on collaboration between the two of us. I tend to come up with the poses and do the base sketch. Mad draws the characters over it, I do the lines, she'll do the base colouring, and then I add in the highlights and shadow effects. I think it's some of our best stuff when we work together like this.
Aside from Ohayocon, we've also been accepted to Shumatsucon, a brand-new convention in Columbus, OH. We're pretty excited to be a part of their first year!
www.facebook.com/shumatsuconAre there other conventions anyone would like to see us go to? We're going to apply for Matsuricon and Midoricon, but I doubt we try for Colossalcon. Any other suggestions?
